Conservation area

There are three conservation areas in our area of Interest , Woodford Broadway which encompasses the Monkhams estate, Kings Avenue and the Broadway itself, Woodford Green, Woodford Wells

Trees

Within the conservation area the system to protect trees is administered by the Council’s Planning department and information may be found on their website https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/planning-and-building/trees-tree-protection-and-hedges/

All trees with a diameter over 75mm in conservation areas are automatically protected. Some trees in a conservation area may also have a TPO.

Most works to a protected tree require a formal application to the Council . This can be submitted online and is free.

It remains the responsibility of the landowner to submit the required application and, if approved, carry out the works on-site. The role of the Planning Service is only to assess the proposed works (through the formal application).

If a protected tree needs immediate attention your tree surgeon must liaise with the Planning Service prior to works taking place. Photographic evidence of the tree in context, as well as written evidence from the tree surgeon, will be required to justify immediate action - this can be provided through a contact form.

You can contact planning services by email for comment: Planning.Enquiry@redbridge.gov.uk

Dangerous Buildings

If you see a dangerous building, use the contact number or e-mail address on either the Redbridge Council website or link on the WGAG website to report it.  Please also get a reference number and the name of the person you speak to, it aids Building Control if any follow up is required.  It is also helpful share the detail of the building i.e. location, address.  The Building Control Officer advised this resident -we take all reports of dangerous structures seriously and appreciate concerned residents reporting them to us.
